Description

I make this stamp from "Japanese Hanahuda". Hanahuda is playing card in Japan. Huji and a Hototogisu are painted.

Huji means Wisteria in Japanese. Hototogisu(Cuculus poliocephalus) is a kind of cuckoo in Asia. They are the symbol of early summer in Japan. When early summer comes, Japanse nobles of old try to hear first songs of Hototogisu in the year. Hototogisu songs at night. Therefore nobles get up early.

A secretary of old wrote Waka. Waka is Japanese poem.

ほととぎす 鳴きつる方を ながむれば ただ有明の 月ぞ残れる

This Waka means;

In the early summer morning,
I heard a little cuckoo singing.
When I looked for the bird,
he flied away, only moon remained.

Perhaps I think original Hanahuda designer knew this poem.

You can use this stamp for personal free. If you want to use for commercial purpose, link back to the stock or credit me please.
